Special Lady Friend is a six-piece blues, soul, funk and rock band based in Sonoma, California, available for private events across Sonoma County, Napa Valley and the wider Bay Area.
A band that fits the room
We built this band for rooms full of people who came to have a good time. Sets move between soul and R&B standards, blues shuffles, funk and straight-ahead rock, with enough range to keep a dinner crowd comfortable and still get everyone up at the end of the night. Vocals up front, guitar, bass, drums, and a mandolin that turns a familiar song sideways.
Because the band came up together around Mill Valley and Sonoma, the arrangements are loose in the right places. We can trim the setlist for a smaller space, stretch out for a late-night crowd, or build a specific run of songs around a first dance or a toast.
What a booking includes
A typical night is two or three sets, sound check in the afternoon, and our own backline, so the venue does not need to supply a drum kit or amplifiers. Load-in is quick and quiet, the band dresses for the event, and one person handles the details from the first email so you are not coordinating six musicians by phone.
We are glad to learn a song for a wedding or a milestone, and we are just as happy to work from our 110-song setlist and read the room as the night goes.
