Sonoma & Marin

Winery wedding band for Sonoma and Marin venues

Barrel rooms, tasting lawns, and sound that behaves.

A winery is one of the best places in the world to see a band and one of the hardest places to put one. Hard surfaces, glass, open ceilings and neighbors who notice. Special Lady Friend has played these rooms long enough to know how to fill them without turning the volume up, which is the entire skill a winery wedding requires.

Playing a room with reverb

Barrel rooms and tasting halls send sound everywhere. Our approach is a quieter stage with the vocal system carrying the melody: no wall of amplifiers behind the singer, a drummer who uses brushes or rods when the room asks for it, and arrangements that let harmonies come through instead of competing with a cymbal.

Lawn sets and weather plans

Outdoor sets at a winery are wonderful until the wind arrives or the marine layer rolls in. We bring weighted stands, covers for instruments, and a plan for shifting the setup under cover mid-event if it comes to that. Instruments go out of the sun between sets so tuning holds through the night.

Working within venue rules

Most wineries have a decibel limit, a curfew, a preferred load-in route and a required certificate of insurance. We carry insurance, follow the venue rules without negotiation, and give planners a schedule early enough to fit the caterer and the photographer. A cooperative band is a big part of a smooth wedding day.

Cocktail hour through last call

The same six players can cover an acoustic-leaning cocktail set on the terrace, the full reception in the barrel room, and a final dance block after dark. Learning a first-dance song is included with a couple of weeks notice, and we are glad to build a short list around the songs a couple actually loves.
