A town that has always taken its music seriously.
Few small towns in California have a deeper musical reputation than Fairfax, where live music has been part of the local ritual for decades. Special Lady Friend plays that town with respect for it: a six-piece band with two real singers, a rhythm section that lives in the pocket, and sets that stretch out when a crowd wants to go deeper.
Fairfax audiences are not passive. They notice when the harmonies are live, when the drummer shifts the feel, when the guitar player leaves space instead of filling it. Our band came up playing together, and that shows in the arrangements: extended blues, funk grooves that build, and a mandolin that pulls a song somewhere unexpected in the middle of a set.
We play backyard parties, birthday nights, benefit shows and local businesses celebrating something. The band can run two compact sets for a smaller gathering or a longer night with room to breathe. Because we carry our own gear, a residential street party or a patio event works without renting or borrowing a thing.
Tell us the date, the location and how long you want music, and we will confirm availability. For outdoor events we ask about power, shade and a hard stop time for the neighbors. Everything else, backline, sound, breaks, we handle.
