Special Lady Friend is a six-piece wedding band based in Sonoma and playing Marin County venues year round: redwood groves, garden ceremonies, country clubs, hotel ballrooms and hillside estates. Two lead vocalists, guitar, bass, drums and mandolin, plus our own sound system and a plan for every part of the day that needs music.
A Marin wedding usually needs music in three places: arrivals and ceremony, cocktail hour, and the reception. We can cover all of it. The same band plays an unplugged-leaning set through cocktails, then brings the full lineup for the reception, which means one vendor relationship instead of three and a consistent sound from the first guest to the last.
We learn a song for a first dance when a couple has one in mind, and we are honest about whether it will work with this band. Classic soul and R&B, blues, funk and singalong rock all land naturally. If a request sits outside that world, we will tell you early and suggest an arrangement that keeps it recognizable.
Several Marin venues have sound limits, early curfews or a preferred vendor list. We ask about all three before the date and build the schedule around them, including an acoustic set if the room needs the band unplugged. Photo and video vendors get a clean sightline, and speeches stay on time because we cue them.
Travel within Marin, setup and sound check, our full backline and vocal system, ceremony and cocktail music if you want it, and two or three reception sets. Quotes are built from the date and the hours rather than a fixed package, so send the details and we will tell you what your wedding would cost.
