Special Lady Friend formed in Sonoma and plays here more than anywhere else: plaza-adjacent tasting rooms, private estates, wedding weekends and local parties that turn into annual traditions. If you are planning a night in Sonoma and want a real band rather than a playlist, this is the lineup that belongs on the calendar.
When we play Sonoma, half the room already knows somebody in the band. That shows up in the music: looser arrangements, longer solos, guest singers pulled up for a song, and a setlist that leans into the soul and R&B the town has heard us play for years. It is still the same professional band you would hire for a wedding, with a little more hometown swing in it.
Tasting rooms, barrel rooms, estate lawns and courtyard dinners all sit within a few miles of the plaza, and each one asks something different of a band. We keep a compact stage setup for tight indoor rooms and can bring the full six-piece sound outside when the space allows. Volume is matched to the venue, not to what the band would prefer.
Spring and fall weekends are usually spoken for months ahead, so earlier is better for weddings and harvest-season parties.
